Police sirens blared loudly at the bank entrance, and fully armed SWAT officers rushed inside, but the sight that greeted them brought them to a halt.
Three masked robbers were lying on the floor, one of them still frothing at the mouth.
Just then, a middle-aged man in a police uniform strode in. After a moment of surprise, he asked in astonishment, “What happened?”
Immediately, an elderly woman shouted, “You’re too late! The bad guys were all taken care of by this young man!”
“Young man?” The middle-aged man looked suspiciously at Yang Ling and asked, “This… this was all your doing?”
By this time, Yang Ling had recovered. With the System now bound to him, he felt a surge of confidence.
He smiled faintly. “Just good luck…”
The middle-aged man’s eyes widened, a look of disbelief on his face. After checking with the surrounding crowd and receiving confirmation, he clapped Yang Ling heavily on the shoulder. “Good job, kid! You did well!”
“Which department are you from, and what is your name?”
Yang Ling stood at attention. “Reporting, sir! I’m a new recruit. My name is Yang Ling.”
The disciplined stance and neither-humble-nor-arrogant tone made the middle-aged man nod slightly. He smiled. “Yang Ling, is it? Good, I’ll remember you.”
He then instructed the SWAT team beside him, “Secure the scene and check everyone, one by one. See if there are any fish that slipped the net.”
“Also, copy the surveillance footage. I want to see it.”
Only now did Yang Ling realize the middle-aged man’s identity: Song Baoyi, a high-ranking official from the S City Bureau.
A moment later, after giving instructions and reviewing the surveillance, Song Baoyi smiled admiringly at Yang Ling. “Little Yang, does your head still hurt? You performed admirably, and we must thank you properly!”
“Come on, let’s go have a chat.”
Yang Ling scratched his head awkwardly. Two hours later, Yang Ling was sent to S City First People’s Hospital. Although the checks showed no issues, he was still admitted to the hospital in the best ward, treated as a work injury.
Lying on the comfortable hospital bed, he finally had time to check his attributes.
Host: Yang Ling.
Strength: 8 (Adult male average: 10 points.)
Agility: 9 (Adult male average: 10 points)
Stamina: 9 (Adult male average: 10 points)
Charisma: (Not Activated)
Skills: Eye of Insight (Innate Skill), Injury Recovery Mastery, Throwing Mastery, Tai Chi Mastery.
Wish Slot: 1/10
Free Attribute Points: 1
After a moment’s hesitation, Yang Ling allocated one attribute point to Agility. The reason was simple: when trouble strikes, run fast.
Due to this incident, Yang Ling was heavily praised as a model of bravely fighting off robbers. The officials immediately decided to reward Yang Ling with one hundred thousand RMB.
For a young man from the bottom of society who had just entered the workforce, this was an excellent start.
His grades weren’t bad, but because his family was poor and couldn’t afford university, he had gone out to work. Now, with this money, re-taking the university entrance exam or trying to start a business were both viable options.
Most importantly, he had the System.
Wearing his hospital gown and carrying a bunch of grapes from the bedside table, he leisurely walked out of the ward, simultaneously calling out in his mind, “Eye of Insight!“
Immediately, he saw a faint red light emanating from a young nurse ahead. Any living being that glows red under the Eye of Insight is currently harboring a wish.
Seeing the nurse looking as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, he walked over and politely asked, “Excuse me, Nurse, is something wrong?”
