This kind of sudden talent transformation was all too familiar to Wen Yi.

Gu Yifeng watched her quietly before suddenly speaking. “You suspect he’s the one who was following us, don’t you?”

Wen Yi was taken aback. “How did you know?”

“Similar clothing, synchronized movements.” His voice grew slightly deeper. “Of everyone at the restaurant, he’s the only one who would take an interest in you.”

She looked up at him. “You think it was him, too.”

Gu Yifeng didn’t deny it. “The possibility can’t be ruled out.”

Gao Yiyuan’s fingers danced across the keyboard as he effortlessly bypassed three layers of firewalls and entered a backend system that had never been made public—

“This architecture doesn’t seem right…” Gao Yiyuan remarked, unusually serious.

Before the words fully left his mouth, all data suddenly began self-destructing at an astonishing speed.

“We’ve been discovered!” Gao Yiyuan frantically hammered the keyboard, trying to salvage what he could, gritting his teeth, “Damn it!!! This speed is just—”

With a piercing electronic tone, the last line of data vanished, replaced by a line of text on the screen:

Gao Yiyuan turned to Gu Yifeng.

“Boss… what does this mean?”

Gu Yifeng didn’t answer, his gaze locked on the silent Wen Yi.

“Miss Wen, what’s your take on this?” Gu Yifeng slowly spoke up.

Wen Yi maintained a polite smile. “I don’t understand a single word written here.”

“Is that so?” 

Gu Yifeng frowned. “Then why don’t I believe a single word you just said?”

Wen Yi: “…”

Silence hung in the air for several seconds.

Gu Yifeng suddenly spoke. “Wen Yi. Article 3 of the Supervision Agreement—no independent action without permission.”

Wen Yi froze, pressing her lips together. This man really could read minds.

He always managed to precisely block her escape routes the moment she conceived them.

She blinked at him. “I remember.”

“As your supervisor, I’m obligated to ensure your safety.” His tone remained measured. “You could try trusting me. Compared to ‘protection,’ what I’m better at is—”

He paused.

“—solving your troubles.”

Wen Yi: “…..”

Just as despair began to set in, the person behind her suddenly released their grip.

Wen Yi spun around, chest heaving violently.

“Brother?!”

The lights flicked on abruptly, revealing Wen Chi lounging lazily on the sofa, his long legs casually crossed, fingertips tapping twice on the armrest—

The cicadas outside the window, the street noise, the hum of electrical appliances—all vanished in an instant. The room was plunged into an eerie silence, as if completely isolated from the outside world.

“Don’t look down on me!” Wen Yi protested. “Not only am I fine, but I’ve also Awakened my ability!”

“Is that so?’ Wen Chi raised an eyebrow, his smile meaningful. “Then tell me—what is your ability? How do you control your power?”

“Well…” Wen Yi guiltily rubbed her nose, blinking as she smiled. “I’m still figuring that out. But I’ve definitely Awakened my ability—you can’t say I’m completely useless, right?”

Wen Chi sighed softly.

He rested his chin on his hand, gazing at Wen Yi.

Wen Yi was stunned.

But a warning.

“By the way, brother,” Wen Yi said hesitantly, “I met someone named Guo Qingyu… I suspect he’s also an Ability User.”

Wen Chi poured himself a cup of tea. “Do you know why the Wen family split back then?”

“Isn’t he protecting me?”

“Protection?” Wen Chi chuckled lowly. “That Gu fellow knows exactly what he’s thinking. Though it’s impressive he waited all these years.”

Wen Yi was taken aback. “Waited… for me? When he saved me back then, wasn’t it just part of his duty?”

Wen Chi chuckled softly. “What do you think?”

Even she, foolish as she was, could hear the implication—Gu Yifeng didn’t just coincidentally appear in her life?

Was that Supervision Agreement truly out of duty, or was it part of his plan?

Could it be that he wanted to capture her and make her work like a beast of burden for the National Security Bureau for the rest of her life?

At this thought, she suddenly felt suffocated.

Her current situation could be described as having a tiger in front and a wolf behind—whether it was Guo Qingyu with his extraordinary ability or Gu Yifeng backed by the National Security Bureau, she couldn’t afford to provoke either!
