Ye Chuan’s expression turned completely cold.
Seeing Ye Cheng’s shameless attitude reminded him of the time when his former mentor publicly snatched his research results in his past life.
For such shameless people, Ye Chuan would show no mercy.
“You have one chance,” he said, his words sharp and deliberate. “Now, put down the silver note and leave immediately. Remember, after I finish speaking, there will only be one chance.”
Ye Cheng froze for a moment, then broke into wild laughter.
“Hahaha… What do you think you are? Without the Ye family, without money, you’d be nothing but a beggar waiting to die on the street!”
“Are you threatening me?” Ye Cheng sneered.
“You’ve lost your mind! You think you can act this way in front of our father? Two days without me beating you, and you’ve forgotten how you used to bow down before me like a dog!”
Ye Cheng’s plans were far less clever than his mother and younger brother’s. If his father wasn’t around, he acted without restraint, bullying Ye Chuan as much as he pleased.
However, just as he finished his taunting, before Ye Chuan could respond, Li Wuling couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Go to hell, you bastard!”
Coming from a military family, Li Wuling’s words were blunt and unrefined.
He stepped forward and pointed directly at Ye Cheng, cursing, “I’ve been running the capital for years, but I’ve never met a scumbag like you!”
“You’re embarrassing the entire capital!”
“I’ll count to three, and if you don’t return my brother’s silver note, I’ll make you understand who the real boss is around here!”
Ye Chuan couldn’t help but be slightly surprised.
Li Wuling, who had recognized Ye Chuan’s identity early on, had shown respect before. He was from a prestigious family, and though his usual behavior was that of a spoiled rich kid, he had been careful to keep up appearances in front of Ye Chuan.
But here, he was showing a completely different side.
Ye Chuan gave a slight smile. It seemed like his help earlier had paid off.
Everything was under control now, and he didn’t need to worry about it anymore.
Meanwhile, Ye Cheng clearly had no idea who Li Wuling was.
This guy was much worse than his younger brother Ye Ren. He had no clue about anything, always hanging around brothels and casinos.
“And who the hell are you?!” Ye Cheng sneered. “You have no business here!”
“Get this trash out of my way!” he ordered, waving his hand.
The two bodyguards of the Ye family rolled up their sleeves and charged at Li Wuling.
Li Wuling wasn’t backing down. His eyes flared with anger as he confronted them.
“Ah!”
Ye Ying’er, terrified by the prospect of a fight, gasped in fear.
“It’s fine, don’t worry,” Ye Chuan reassured her with a smile. “Li Wuling is from a military family, he can handle a little fight.”
After all, he was the grandson of the great General Li Xuanwu!
However, before he could finish speaking…
“Bang!”
“Ow!!”
In the blink of an eye, Li Wuling was punched in the face by one of the bodyguards.
And then… he immediately crouched down, clutching his face in pain.
The bodyguards didn’t stop, continuing to kick him mercilessly.
“Ahh!!”
“Dammit, you dare hit me?!”
“I’m… Ow! Stop! Stop it!”
Watching Li Wuling, the so-called capital bully, curled up on the ground, Ye Chuan was momentarily stunned. He couldn’t believe his eyes.
Wasn’t this supposed to be the mighty grandson of General Li Xuanwu?
And now he was being beaten by two bodyguards?
This didn’t make sense!
When he had been boasting earlier, Ye Chuan had expected some great display of power from Li Wuling. But now, seeing him like this, it was completely different from what he had imagined.
“Enough!”
After a moment, Ye Cheng waved his hand, signaling for the bodyguards to stop. After all, this was in public, and he couldn’t afford to make a scene.
The bodyguards stepped back, and Li Wuling trembled, slowly lifting his head to make sure the beating had stopped. He rushed to Ye Chuan and clung to his leg, crying out in distress.
“Big Brother! They hit me!”
If Li Xuanwu were here, he would surely die from the embarrassment.
Ye Chuan’s face darkened, and his lips twitched in disbelief.
The so-called capital bully? The spoiled rich kid?
Was this really him?
“Yes, I saw,” Ye Chuan replied flatly.
Li Wuling looked up at him with wide eyes, his voice full of innocence. “Big Brother, don’t you want to say something? I’m sticking up for you!”
“They’re not just kicking my ass; they’re slapping your face!”
Ye Chuan’s eyes twitched again, holding back the urge to slap the kid himself.
Stay calm, stay calm.
This was actually a good thing.
Ye Cheng, Ye Zhenhuai, this time, you’ve really messed up!
Ye Chuan’s lips curved into a slight smile.
“Heh, Third Brother, looks like you’ve raised your dog just like yourself. Dogs really do follow their masters. Hahaha…”
Ye Cheng laughed arrogantly, full of confidence, but his eyes soon turned cold as he glared at Ye Chuan.
“You better come back with me right now, or…”
Ye Cheng wasn’t fool enough to continue pushing things, especially since his father had warned him to be polite.
But Ye Chuan, on the other hand, smiled broadly. “Alright, let’s go then.”
The sudden change in Ye Chuan’s attitude caught Ye Cheng off guard.
“Humph, you finally got some sense!” Ye Cheng scoffed, dismissing him with a wave, turning toward the exit, followed by his bodyguards.
Ye Chuan narrowed his eyes and quickly grabbed Li Wuling by the arm. “Enough with the act! Let’s get going!”
Li Wuling, his expression changing in an instant, wiped his nose and stood up quickly. “Wait for me, Big Brother!”
He then turned to Ye Ying’er, flashing a grin. “Sister-in-law, could you please ask the shopkeeper for some chicken blood or duck blood? Any kind of blood will do!”
Ye Ying’er froze, her face flushing red at being called “Sister-in-law.” She looked at Ye Chuan, who smiled and nodded at her. Only then did she turn to leave.
“Not bad, kid. Your acting’s pretty solid,” Ye Chuan commented, eyeing Li Wuling.
The way he had been crying and screaming a moment ago had been perfect.
This guy might not have much in the way of skills, but he wasn’t stupid. After all, he was the grandson of General Li Xuanwu.
And just now, he had conveniently not mentioned that important detail.
“Hehe… the more I act weak, the more this big fool will let his guard down. When we slap him in the face later, it’ll feel even sweeter!”
“Big Brother, you and I are on the same wavelength. Let’s make this a good one!” Li Wuling grinned, exchanging a look with Ye Chuan.
They both smiled, a sense of mutual understanding between them—though it was more of a partnership in mischief than anything else.
This time, if they didn’t get Ye Zhenhuai’s entire family into serious trouble, it would be a waste of all the trouble Li Wuling had gone through earlier.
