Chapter 6: I Fought with My Brother
The school bell rang like a pardon.
Following his memory, Li Fuling found the Shen family car among the numerous luxury vehicles.
He opened the car door to find Shen Jici already lounging casually against the opposite window, wearing earphones and staring straight ahead without glancing sideways.
The driver spotted him in the rearview mirror and said perfunctorily, Young Master Fuling, the car will be parked in this spot from now on. You can come directly here.
Li Fuling responded with a quiet Mm, curling into the seat as far away from Shen Jici as possible.
Despite the spacious interior, Shen Jici pressed himself against the door, creating an invisible wall of disgust between them that clearly said: Stay away from me, you’re filthy.
Li Fuling lowered his head, his fingers unconsciously twisting the fabric of his brand-new school uniform. The smooth, soft texture reminded him that he was clean—thoroughly washed, wearing new clothes. He wasn’t dirty at all.
When they returned home, the mansion was quiet. Both Shen Hai and Madam Yu were out on business.
Shen Jici, as if reclaiming his territory, tossed his backpack onto the sofa, picked up his game console, and sprawled across the entire living room, blaring the game sound effects deafeningly.
Li Fuling silently put away his own backpack and thought of the little rose garden he had planted himself in the yard—his only solace for the day.
He had even numbered each plant: Rose No. 1, Rose No. 2…
But when he rushed to the small garden he had carefully bordered with pretty stones, the sight made his blood boil—
His meticulously planted rose seedlings had been hacked to pieces. Tender green branches and leaves lay shattered, their severed ends oozing dried, darkened green sap like ugly scars.
Several plants had been uprooted entirely and discarded carelessly on the soil, already wilted and yellowed from the sun.
Most of the pretty stones he had handpicked and arranged in a neat circle had been dug out and scattered who knows where.
All the other rose beds nearby remained untouched; only his plot had suffered this devastating destruction.
Who was responsible was glaringly obvious.
An unprecedented, blazing fury erupted in his chest.
Like an enraged young animal, he charged back into the house, eyes red, glaring straight at Shen Jici, who was engrossed in his game on the sofa.
The next second, before Shen Jici could react, Li Fuling lunged at him, using all his strength to clamp both hands around Shen Jici’s neck!
Ah!
Startled by the sudden attack, Shen Jici dropped his game console with a clatter.
Once he recovered, shame and rage fueled an instant counterattack—he punched Li Fuling hard in the shoulder socket!
The two teenagers lost their balance, tumbling off the sofa and wrestling together on the soft carpet.
I didn’t provoke you! Why did you cut my roses?! Li Fuling roared, struggling to pin the other boy down. You just can’t stand me!
Shen Jici, a year older and stronger, quickly gained the upper hand.
He broke free from the hold, flipped Li Fuling onto the floor, and pressed him down, his tone dripping with contempt and arrogance: So what if I cut them? This is my house! I’ll cut whatever I want! What are you anyway? An outsider daring to lay hands on me? I’ll beat you to death!
Li Fuling also retorted loudly, That’s no reason for you to harm my flowers!
