Finally, the long-awaited guest arrived.

Jiang Mother glanced silently at Jiang Siro, then led the group to the living room to sit.

Jiang Mother had been proud of her wealth for most of her life, holding her head high.

But when sitting with Liang Mother, their differences in stature were immediately obvious.

“Please, sit together.”

Liang Mother waved and invited Jiang Yichu to join them.

She turned to Jiang Mother and asked, “So, this is the newly found eldest daughter?”

Apart from the arranged marriage, the two families didn’t interact much.

Liang Mother saw right through Jiang Mother’s subtle thoughts.

She turned around to look at Jiang Yichu as well.

Liang Mother smiled at Jiang Yichu and said, “That jade is quite lovely.”

Jiang Mother hadn’t given Jiang Yichu any jade, and when she saw it, she didn’t care where Jiang Yichu had gotten the necklace from and immediately reached to take it off.

“If Aunt Liang likes it, you should hurry and take it off and give it to her.”

“No need for that.” Liang Mother gently refused.

“If you’re not too busy, how about you accompany me and go shopping to buy a matching one?”

Jiang Mother froze.

Jiang Siro’s expression turned even darker.

“Do you have time?”

Liang Mother waved at Jiang Yichu.

“I do,” Jiang Yichu nodded and walked forward.

As she passed Jiang Mother, Jiang Mother gritted her teeth and whispered a warning, “Watch your words.”

Jiang Yichu ignored her, treating it as nothing more than a bark from a dog.

The military jeep drove off into the distance.

As soon as Jiang Siro entered the house, she couldn’t hold it in anymore!

“Mom, what did Liang Heng’s mom mean?”

“What does she mean by ‘she likes this girl’?”

“And why did she ask Jiang Yichu to go shopping with her alone?!”

The maid, who was about to enter the living room to clear the teacups, was so frightened she retreated back to the kitchen.

Jiang Mother was also puzzled by Liang Mother’s attitude toward Jiang Yichu.

Looking at her daughter, who was on the verge of tears, she pulled her into an embrace and patted her shoulder. “Alright.”

“Don’t you see? We’ve successfully called off the engagement. Aren’t you happy?”

“Besides, didn’t you hear what Liang Mother just said? She’ll offer our family some compensation.”

“When the time comes, I’ll get Liang Family to arrange a job for you at the Cultural Troupe. How about that?”

Liang Mother was the head of the Cultural Troupe, so this wasn’t hard to arrange.

“Would I lie to you?”
