Chapter 2: Please Don’t Lift My Skirt, Okay? 2
“There’s an even more troublesome person still following me.”
Shi Xingluo didn’t doubt his intuition for even a second.
His intuition had been honed over twenty-two years of struggling to survive in the apocalypse. If not for this sharp intuition, he would have died countless times already.
The System was surprised, “No way? If he’s following, he should have seen you knock someone out with a brick. How could he dare to continue?”
Shi Xingluo chuckled lightly, “Dare to bet? If I win, you give me a thousand Points. If you win, I’ll work for free in this world, no Points needed.”
The System got excited, “Bet!”
Shi Xingluo walked a bit further.
Unfortunately, that feeling persisted, but no one jumped out.
The System gradually became overconfident, “Host, we’re almost out of the alley. Outside is the main street, and no one would be foolish enough to try anything on a busy street. You must be mistaken.”
Shi Xingluo pursed his lips. He absolutely couldn’t be wrong. Unless… this person was too cautious or had no intention of revealing himself for now…
But he had to lure this person out to beat up another one!
Shi Xingluo curled his lips, suddenly swaying on his feet a couple of times, raising a hand to support his forehead. The night breeze carried his murmured words from between his crimson lips, “So dizzy…”
The System was confused, “Host, are you okay?”
The corners of Shi Xingluo’s lips lifted. In the darkness, his unfathomable eyes were completely clear, without a trace of drunkenness.
Yet his steps became even more unsteady, “I’m not okay, it’s serious. I’m just a delicate young girl, being followed at night. I clearly don’t look wealthy, so if it’s not for money, then what do you think they’re after? I’m so scared~ suddenly so frightened that I can barely lift my legs~”
System: “?”
Shi Xingluo swayed unsteadily, reaching out to support himself against the wall, then his body went limp and he slid down along the wall.
In the darkness, a figure quickly approached him, smoothly catching him in their arms just before he completely collapsed to the ground.
“There really was someone else following the host!”
As Shi Xingluo fell into the man’s embrace, the System’s astonished voice echoed through his Sea of Consciousness.
A cold, unfamiliar scent instantly assaulted Shi Xingluo’s nostrils. He barely suppressed the impulse to immediately throw a punch at the other’s head, first ensuring his earnings were secured, “A thousand Points, quickly!”
Once they were transferred, he would immediately erupt and beat this stalker to a pulp!
“So, you’re drunk? No wonder you had the nerve to hit someone with a brick.”
A man’s low, cold voice tinged with amusement suddenly sounded by his ear.
The man’s eyes darkened. No, it was murder. He absolutely refused to believe that the scene that had excited him so much thrilled him and made his heart race could have been an illusion.
Or a trick of the eyes.
How beautiful that moment had been!
The youth’s calm, even innocent smile while cracking open that pig-headed man’s skull was so breathtakingly beautiful it made his heart pound, utterly captivating.
He hadn’t looked away, so how could it have been a trick to the eyes?
Just as the man was thinking this, Shi Xingluo’s lips curved upward as if responding to his thoughts, and he opened his eyes, ready to deliver another skull-cracking meal.
But the man seemed to possess some terrifying alertness, effortlessly grabbing his wrist.
Then he tightened his hold, “Still got some brute strength even when drunk.”
Shi Xingluo: !?
What the hell?
Encountering a worthy opponent?
Shi Xingluo instinctively tried to pull his hand back, but the grip on his wrist remained completely unmoving.
For the first time in a long while, Shi Xingluo’s pupils trembled slightly. This guy possessed genuine brute strength—enough to restrain him?
Even without his special ability, his body’s instinctive reflexes and strength shouldn’t be something just anyone in this peaceful modern society could match.
But now… was he miscalculating tonight?
Suddenly, Shi Xingluo really wanted to see the other person’s face clearly.
Unfortunately, the alley’s lighting was as dim and yellow as last century’s old newspapers, and most of the man’s face was hidden beneath a baseball cap.
All he could vaguely make out was the sharp, knife-like line of the man’s jaw, visible in the faint yellow light.
“What do you want?”
Shi Xingluo wasn’t flustered by having his wrist briefly restrained.
Instead, he parted his lips and lazily blew a puff of alcohol-laced breath toward the sharp tip of the man’s chin. “Robbery or lust? If it’s robbery, I’ve only got forty bucks on me—broke as a joke. If it’s lust… no need to take advantage of someone like this. What if I’m willing?”
The man paused briefly, but instead of the ecstatic reaction Shi Xingluo expected, a chilling aura pressed toward him through the subtle space between them. “Are you like this with everyone? Willing to do anything with just anyone you happen to meet?”
Knocking out that pig-headed guy earlier was just because he was too drunk to know better. But if someone else grabbed him like this, would he not resist too?
Would anyone do? If it hadn’t been him who found Shi Xingluo drunk by the roadside tonight, it would’ve been someone else.
And that someone else could have done the same?
This realization made the man’s grip on Shi Xingluo’s wrist tighten abruptly, squeezing until Shi Xingluo’s wrist bone ached.
Shi Xingluo scoffed, “None of your—mmph—”
In the night breeze, the man’s chest heaved violently twice before he suddenly lowered his head and sealed Shi Xingluo’s lips in a startling move.
His action didn’t feel like a kiss—more like an aggressive punishment born of cold fury, invading and overwhelming with intense force.
