Tang Gu was in her room while her mother knocked on the door outside.
“Dinner’s ready.”
Tang Gu hid the drawing on her desk in a drawer before getting up to go out.
Her mother glanced into her room from the doorway but saw nothing, only a few unput-away paintbrushes on the desk.
Tanggu studied art and was highly talented.
Originally, her school had an art competition, but… because she had been kidnapped and gone missing for so long, she had long since lost her eligibility to compete.
Now, forget about taking exams—she couldn’t even go to school, and whether she’d be able to graduate was in question.
At the dinner table, her father sat in silence. Just as Tang Gu took a bite of rice, her mother’s hysterical scream rang out from the room: “Are you crazy?! You actually drew something like this!”
Tanggu abruptly dropped her chopsticks and rushed into her room, her father following anxiously behind her.
When they reached the door, her mother was tearing at the drawing Tang Gu had just finished, shouting at her in fury, “Have you lost your mind?! How could you draw that rapist?! How could you draw such a shameless picture?! Tang Gu! Have you lost your mind?!”
Tanggu stepped forward to grab the drawing, but her mother spun away to avoid her. Crying in anguish, she tore the drawing into shreds. “Don’t you know what he did?! He imprisoned you! He raped you! He kept you locked up for so long—don’t you hate him?! Your father and I hate him to death! We wish we could kill him with our own hands…”
In an instant, the painting was torn into a dozen or so scraps of paper, fluttering to the floor.
The father picked up a slightly larger piece of paper from the floor and saw a drawing of a man and a woman kissing. The woman in the drawing was his daughter, and the man was… the rapist they had seen at the police station.
Her father’s chest ached with anger. Looking at Tang Gu, he felt as though he had aged ten years in an instant, his voice carrying a deep sense of exhaustion and helplessness.
“What are you doing? Child… after what he did to you… you still drew him…”
Tang Gu knelt on the floor. Silently, she picked up the fragments from the ground, sat down at the table, and began piecing them together.
The drawing depicted a man and a woman embracing and kissing on a sofa.
It was the scene of them kissing on the sofa before Yu Chibei was arrested.
The girl’s back was bare; her slender arms were wrapped around the man’s neck, pressing her soft lips against his. As he kissed her, a smile played at the corners of his mouth.
Tang Gu traced the man’s smiling lips in the drawing and couldn’t help but smile back at him.
Seeing this, her parents broke down and wept uncontrollably.
Two days later, the police returned, accompanied by a psychological counselor.
Tang Gu sat on the sofa, her eyes cast downward, looking serious and quiet.
She was exceptionally beautiful, with delicate eyebrows, a petite nose, rosy lips, and large eyes—moist and lustrous like black grapes. Her skin was very fair; she wore a white dress, her black hair cascading over her shoulders, giving her an innocent and captivating aura.
The psychological counselor was a woman with short hair and a capable demeanor.
Unlike the police, she asked very detailed questions.
For example, “What did you do when you were with Yu Chibei?”
Tang Gu’s face flushed. She bit her lip and hesitated for a long time before looking at the counselor, Liang Youqin, and saying, “I don’t want to answer that question.”
Liang Youqin could vaguely guess what it was from her flushed face, so she politely refrained from asking further and changed the subject.
However, her parents, because of that painting from before, were reminded of the scene in the painting the moment they heard the question, and were so enraged that tears were about to fall again.
That beast… actually did that kind of thing with their daughter every single day.
