“Brother, tell me—what difference is there between us and orphans now?”
Si Youlin lowered his eyes slightly, a trace of mockery in his voice.
A father who doesn’t care, a mother who doesn’t love them.
They were worse off than orphans—orphans might not even live as miserably as they did.
Hearing this, a faint ache spread through Si Zuochen’s chest.
He looked at Si Youlin and gently comforted him, “Who says no one cares? Grandpa cares a lot.”
Si Youlin froze for a moment. Thinking of Old Master Si, his expression softened slightly.
“I… I know.”
Si Youlin stood up. Just as the two of them were about to leave, a loud noise suddenly came from the doorway—
“Bang—!”
The private room door was shoved open violently from outside. Two men with vicious-looking faces barged in, clearly up to no good.
“Who are you?” Si Zuochen stepped in front of Si Youlin, frowning as he asked coldly.
The man in the lead sized him up, his gaze finally settling on the watch on Si Zuochen’s wrist.
If he wasn’t mistaken, that watch alone was worth a house. Who casually wore the price of a house on their wrist?
On top of that, everything the kid was wearing was clearly luxury brands. There was no doubt the watch was real.
With that thought, a lewd smile crept onto the man’s face.
“Kid, I’ve been watching you for several days now. What—had a fight at home today? It’s already dark and you’re still not leaving.”
He was buried under gambling debts. By chance, he noticed that Si Zuochen often came to this internet café.
But he always left before nightfall, making it hard to act. Today was finally his chance.
Si Zuochen’s expression tightened as he sized the man up, quickly forming a judgment.
When he spoke again, he seemed like a completely different person:
“Who sent you? W-what do you want to do?”
Seeing Si Zuochen put on an act of fear, Si Youlin tilted his head slightly, confusion filling his eyes.
Normally such a tough guy—today…?
The man exchanged glances with his companion. When he looked back at Si Zuochen, he pulled out a baton, his tone turning threatening.
“Hand over everything valuable you have, then call your family.”
“You’re robbing us?”
“Didn’t expect this young master to be an idiot,” the man sneered at his partner. “Can’t even tell?”
He sounded so casual because he’d already figured it out—this kid might be rich, but he had no bodyguards with him.
The two of them could easily handle this.
“Oh…” Si Zuochen nodded—and then pressed the alarm beside him.
The two men were startled. Before they could react, the door was smashed open from the outside.
“Bang!”
A chair flew straight at the leader, smashing into him. He let out a muffled groan.
What the hell?
The two of them turned around at the same time, only to see that the group of people who had earlier been minding their own business in the café were now all holding weapons.
What was going on?!
Si Zuochen looked at the dazed man who’d been hit and curled his lips slightly, then casually pointed at the two robbers.
Before they could react, their arms were pinned and their heads were slammed straight into the wall.
“Boom!”
The leader’s forehead crashed against the icy wall, blood pouring out instantly.
He cried out in pain, not daring to move at all.
“You’ve got some nerve—trying to rob our boss. Looking for death?” someone behind them said coldly, speaking up for Si Zuochen.
The two robbers were completely stunned, not even understanding how the situation had reversed so suddenly.
The twist came way too fast.
“Boss, how should we deal with them?” the café manager stepped up and asked Si Zuochen.
Si Zuochen glanced at the two men, raised an eyebrow, and said indifferently, “Just don’t beat them to death. I still need them.”
Once he spoke, the others were about to move.
“Wait.”
Everyone froze and turned to look at him.
Si Zuochen smiled faintly and explained, “Drag them outside and beat them there. My brother can’t handle such a bloody scene.”
If the man hadn’t been restrained and at a complete disadvantage, he would’ve spat out a sarcastic remark.
Bloody? Can’t handle it?
Are you even human?!
You’re the one giving the orders! You’re not the one getting beaten!
Saying this, it almost sounded like you were the helpless victim.
An angel’s face—with a devil’s heart.
At that moment, regret flooded him. How had he provoked a monster like this?
After the two men were dragged out, Si Zuochen finally dropped the fake smile he’d been wearing.
“Brother, what was that all about?” Si Youlin asked, puzzled, seeing the farce come to an end.
“Everyone in the café is on your side—why did you pretend to be weak earlier?”
And let that guy swagger around for so long.
Disgusting.
“It’s nothing.” Si Zuochen smiled faintly as he explained, “When they first appeared, I thought they were sent by that woman.”
“I had to figure out what they wanted first.”
Who knew they were just idiots looking for death?
“Then why not send them straight to the police? Why keep them?”
A sharp glint flashed through Si Zuochen’s eyes.
“If they dared to target me, they should pay a price.”
“And I suddenly thought of something interesting…”
“What?” Si Youlin looked confused.
“That woman has lived too comfortably for too long. It’s time to give her something to deal with.”
His words were vague, making Si Youlin frown.
Cause trouble? What kind of trouble?
And what did it have to do with those two men?
“Do you want to take revenge on her?” Si Zuochen suddenly asked.
Si Youlin’s eyes flickered. He raised his brows and asked, “What do you mean? You’ve got a way?”
If revenge were that easy, would they have waited until now?
Si Zuochen lifted his chin toward the outside and let out a soft chuckle.
“Can’t let the two out there work for nothing, can we?”
A mocking smile played on his lips, cold ruthlessness flashing in his eyes.
With that, he stood up and walked toward the door.
As soon as the two of them appeared, the people participating in the “group beating” stopped.
“Boss, how should we deal with these two?” the café manager asked again.
A man in his twenties calling a child “boss” looked ridiculous.
Yet on Si Zuochen, it felt perfectly natural.
Si Zuochen walked up to the two men and squatted down.
Looking at the two “pig heads” beaten beyond recognition, he couldn’t help smacking his tongue.
Seeing Si Zuochen in front of him, the man panicked instantly.
“Y-you… what are you doing?”
“With skills like this, you still dared to rob someone?” Si Zuochen mocked.
Regret immediately showed on the man’s face.
If he’d known the person in front of him was a devil—
Even if beaten to death, he wouldn’t have taken this job!
Not only had he gained nothing, he’d even ruined himself.
“You want money?” Si Zuochen asked gently.
“No, no, no!” the man waved his hands frantically. “We don’t want anything—it’s our fault for not recognizing who we were dealing with!”
“Please, sir, show mercy and let us go.”
The man’s plea was pitiful, but Si Zuochen remained unmoved.
“Don’t say that,” he replied lightly.
“I can’t just let you come for nothing.”
