“Cheng Xi! You did that on purpose!”
Even though he hadn’t been hit, it had only been by sheer luck. Si Youlin couldn’t suppress his anger and spoke up for his brother.
Cheng Xi curled his lips, wearing a completely indifferent expression.
Si Zuochen looked at him, propped himself up with one hand, and stood. He sneered coldly,
“I don’t think it’s just the ball that doesn’t have eyes—looks like the person doesn’t either.”
“The field is so far away from us, yet you still managed to kick it off target. I really can’t tell whether there’s something wrong with your brain or your eyes.”
As he spoke, he walked over to Cheng Xi, his face full of disdain.
“Simple-minded, well-developed limbs—right?”
“Si Zuochen!” Cheng Xi’s face darkened after being mocked so openly.
Then he seemed to think of something and suddenly let out a soft laugh.
“Forget it. You’re only good at running your mouth anyway.”
“After all, you’re someone who was born with a mother but raised without one.”
The affairs of the Si family weren’t exactly a secret in upper society, but Cheng Xi was the first to dare say it so bluntly.
“Cheng Xi, you’re asking for death!” Si Youlin stared at him fiercely, his eyes blazing with rage.
Hearing that, Cheng Xi turned to look at Si Youlin again.
He shrugged, putting on a mock-innocent expression.
“What? Can’t even tell the truth in today’s society?”
“Besides, in your situation, you’d honestly be better off as orphans.”
“A comatose father and a mother prone to domestic violence—that kind of life can’t be easy, right?”
Listening to Cheng Xi’s words, Si Youlin clenched his fists tightly.
Cheng Xi glanced at him, pretending not to notice, and continued,
“I also heard your mother’s been getting pretty cozy with some man lately—seeing him all the time?”
“But that’s good too. Maybe you’ll be getting a new dad soon.”
He suddenly exclaimed exaggeratedly,
“Oh! In that case, shouldn’t I congratulate you in advance? Maybe once there’s a man of the house, your treatment will improve as well.”
Cheng Xi showed no mercy as he ripped open Si Zuochen’s scars.
What he despised most was Si Zuochen’s deliberately aloof demeanor.
Clearly down on his luck, with his family in complete chaos—
Yet every time, he still acted superior, looking down on others with disdain.
What gave Si Zuochen the right?
So Cheng Xi had made up his mind—to tear off that hypocritical mask and watch him fall into the mud.
Listening to Cheng Xi’s sarcastic taunts, a dark chill surged between Si Zuochen’s brows.
Seeing the anger finally surface on Si Zuochen’s face, Cheng Xi knew his words had hit their mark.
“Or,” he added leisurely,
“for the sake of being classmates, I could be merciful.”
“If you’re willing to call me ‘Dad,’ then when you can no longer survive in the Si family, I might barely consider taking you in.”
“Go to hell!” Si Youlin completely lost control of his rage.
The moment the words left his mouth, he threw a punch at Cheng Xi.
Seeing this, Si Zuochen no longer held back either—he delivered a straight kick, knocking Cheng Xi to the ground.
“Ah—!”
A scream cut through the air as Si Zuochen and Si Youlin pinned Cheng Xi down and beat him.
The surrounding students all turned to look, but not a single one dared step in to stop the fight.
Cheng Xi wasn’t afraid of courting death—but they weren’t brave enough to interfere.
Si Zuochen struck Cheng Xi square in the face without mercy.
“Call me ‘Dad’? You don’t deserve it.”
“Even if your father were here, he wouldn’t dare talk like that!”
Cheng Xi could only raise his arms to block, completely unable to fight back.
“I’ll give you a chance too,” Si Zuochen said coldly.
“Call me ‘Dad,’ and I’ll let you off this time.”
Cheng Xi bit his lip hard, refusing to make a sound.
Seeing this, Si Youlin punched his face fiercely—accidentally landing directly on the bridge of his nose. Blood instantly gushed out.
A sharp pain shot through Cheng Xi, and he no longer had the presence of mind to care about his dignity.
When the teacher arrived after receiving notice, this was the scene she saw.
Cheng Xi lay on the ground clutching his nose and begging for mercy, while Si Zuochen and Si Youlin stood nearby, watching coldly.
The teacher rushed over to help Cheng Xi up, then turned to the two brothers and shouted angrily,
“What are you doing?!”
Before Si Zuochen could explain, she continued scolding them,
“I know your family situation is different, but that’s no excuse for lacking basic upbringing!”
“Beating classmates, skipping class, defying teachers—what exactly have you been doing?”
Watching the teacher speak up indignantly on Cheng Xi’s behalf, Si Zuochen suddenly let out a cold laugh.
“What are you laughing at?” The teacher frowned, deeply dissatisfied with his attitude.
“Lacking upbringing?” Si Zuochen shot back.
“Then what about you?”
“You assign blame to us without asking what actually happened. Is that what professional ethics look like for a teacher?”
“You don’t distinguish right from wrong, don’t ask about facts—are you worthy of this profession?”
By the end, a sharp edge had crept into Si Zuochen’s voice.
The teacher was stunned by his words and didn’t know how to respond.
Just then, Cheng Xi’s mother came storming over in fury.
She was a member of the school’s board. Coincidentally, she had come to campus for business that day—and had unexpectedly run into this incident.
A flicker of unease passed across the teacher’s face. Worse still, the students involved were from her own class—this would be difficult to handle.
“Director Zhang,” the teacher lowered her head and greeted her.
The woman didn’t even glance at her. She helped Cheng Xi up, her face full of concern.
“Xi’er…”
Then she looked coldly at Si Zuochen and Si Youlin.
“How can people like this be allowed to stay in school? Sooner or later they’ll become scum of society and disgrace their alma mater!”
Her implication was obvious—she wanted them expelled.
The teacher spoke cautiously,
“These two families contribute a great deal to the school financially, so I’m afraid—”
Director Zhang’s expression changed sharply.
“So what?”
This was a private school, attended only by the wealthy or powerful. Countless parents desperately tried to get their children in, naturally offering “contributions” to secure a spot.
“I won’t let this matter go!” she said coldly.
“I want to see exactly what kind of people could raise children with such poor manners.”
Hearing this, the teacher’s expression turned awkward.
As a teacher, students lacking discipline also reflected poorly on her.
Recalling how confidently Si Zuochen had just questioned her, she braced herself and stepped forward.
“Director Zhang, we still don’t know the cause of this incident. Isn’t it a bit too hasty to make a judgment like this?”
Without waiting for a reply, she turned to Si Youlin.
“Tell the teacher—what happened?”
Si Youlin glanced at Si Zuochen. After receiving a nod of approval, he explained how Cheng Xi had come over to provoke them, embellishing the details slightly.
When he finished, the expressions of those present all shifted.
Cheng Xi’s mother looked embarrassed. Seeing that her son didn’t speak up to refute it, she knew the truth was likely close to what had been said.
Even though she knew Cheng Xi had started it, he was the one beaten black and blue, while the other two were completely unharmed.
She had no intention of letting the matter end easily.
“Director Zhang, how should we handle this…?” the teacher asked tactfully.
