Jiang Ran slowly opened her eyes, stretched lazily, and very casually pulled her phone out of her pocket.
Thinking of how Si Zuochen was clearly just a child yet put on such a grave, world-weary front, Jiang Ran couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
“In the end, he’s still just a kid—too naive.”
They hadn’t even searched her or confiscated her phone.
Weren’t they afraid she might call the police?
She lifted her gaze to the moonlight filtering in through the window, and a thought suddenly flashed through her mind.
The next moment, she stepped onto the windowsill, spun lightly, and landed steadily on the ground.
Looking at the scenery outside, Jiang Ran couldn’t help wondering what expressions those two little brats would have if they discovered she had escaped.
Well—
No matter what, it was still a case of one trick higher, one devil stronger.
Seeing her eye-catching Maybach still parked outside the bar, Jiang Ran was just about to drive home.
But then she recalled Si Zuochen’s accusations earlier that day. After a brief hesitation, she decided to play the good person.
Since the two of them believed they had successfully set her up, she wouldn’t ruin their fun tonight.
Instead, she turned the car around and drove in the opposite direction, planning to stay at a hotel for the night.
Hm? Who’s this?
Jiang Ran looked at the two people ahead of her, a meaningful smile curling her lips.
Lu Ziyi and Song Yuqing were acting intimately. After getting their room key, they didn’t take the elevator—instead, they headed for the stairwell.
What kind of strange preference was this?
Jiang Ran raised an eyebrow slightly and quietly followed behind them, their voices faintly drifting over. She took out her phone and secretly recorded the audio.
“I just feel like she’s been acting strange lately. She even kicked me out last time! If it weren’t for the fact that she’s still useful, I would’ve fallen out with her long ago!”
Song Yuqing was still holding a grudge about the previous incident, angrily listing Jiang Ran’s “crimes” to Lu Ziyi.
“Don’t rush,” Lu Ziyi said gently, comforting her.
“Just endure it for now. That stupid woman has been selling off Si family shares lately. She said once everything’s liquidated, she’ll invest it all in me.”
“When the time comes, we’ll take the money and leave, dumping this mess entirely on her.”
Hearing this, Song Yuqing’s eyes lit up with excitement.
“Exactly! She’s completely obsessed with you now. Sooner or later, I’ll make her regret everything she’s done!”
Listening to them, Jiang Ran couldn’t help letting out a cold laugh.
Everything she’s done?
The original owner had given them whatever they asked for. The only thing she’d done was throw Song Yuqing out once—and that alone was enough for her to hold a lifelong grudge?
What a joke.
Jiang Ran couldn’t help sneering at the original owner’s terrible taste in friends.
“Ziyi, what do you think that stupid woman is thinking? She ignores her own biological children, beats and scolds them at the slightest thing, yet she dotes on you instead. She really can’t tell good from bad.”
“How did a prestigious family like the Si family end up marrying a woman like her? They must’ve been blind.”
Song Yuqing poured out all her resentment toward Jiang Ran in one breath.
Listening to her, Jiang Ran almost felt the urge to rush forward and rip off that hypocritical mask.
Now she stood on the moral high ground criticizing her?
Did she not remember who had been whispering in her ear, sowing discord about Si Zuochen and Si Youlin—claiming the children’s birth charts clashed with the Si family’s fate, and that Si Yanzhao’s coma was their fault?
She had clearly stolen something herself, yet framed it on Si Youlin, calling a child “malicious at heart.”
One incident after another had pushed the original owner to despise the two children even more.
And the original owner—almost possessed—had believed every word without question.
Foolish.
“Alright,” Lu Ziyi said, patting Song Yuqing’s back, his fingers deliberately teasing.
“It’s rare that we get time alone. Let’s not bring up such mood-killing things.”
“In any case, she won’t end well sooner or later.”
As he finished speaking, the two exchanged sticky, lingering kisses.
Hearing it, Jiang Ran felt a wave of disgust wash over her. She quickly snapped a few photos and turned to leave through the emergency exit.
After entering her booked room, she recalled the scene and let out a cold snort.
A pair of despicable scoundrels indeed.
Absolutely nauseating.
Trying to scheme against her?
Come back after another twenty years of reincarnation.
She picked up the phone on the desk and called the front desk. After hanging up, a triumphant, scheming smile curved her lips.
On the other side, Lu Ziyi and Song Yuqing could barely restrain themselves even on the stairwell.
Fortunately, they still retained a shred of rationality and made it back to the room—after which passion erupted uncontrollably.
Knock knock knock—
A sudden knock sounded on the door.
“Who is it?” Song Yuqing snapped impatiently. No one liked being interrupted at a moment like this.
“I’ll check,” Lu Ziyi said, casually throwing on a bathrobe and heading over.
When he returned, he was holding two bottles of whisky.
Song Yuqing’s expression softened slightly. “Did you order drinks?”
Lu Ziyi shook his head. “No. Maybe they sent the wrong room?”
“Who cares?” Song Yuqing sat up.
“If it’s a mistake, that’s on them. What does it have to do with us?”
Their shameless greed was laid bare at that moment.
Lu Ziyi smiled, took out wine glasses, and the two of them settled in for the night.
Meanwhile, imagining what was happening on their end, Jiang Ran couldn’t help smiling softly.
She had already placed talismans into the alcohol beforehand. Knowing them well enough, she was certain they’d never refuse free drinks.
But once they drank it, Lu Ziyi would finish far too quickly—leaving them to waste the entire night.
She wondered what Song Yuqing’s expression would look like then.
Drunk and carried away by desire, who could have expected that at the critical moment, Lu Ziyi would suddenly get up and head to the bathroom?
This wasn’t their first time. Watching his movements, Song Yuqing frowned deeply.
“Useless trash!”
Early the next morning, Jiang Ran didn’t return to the villa. Instead, she went shopping.
After being in this world for so long, she finally went on a proper shopping spree—and only at checkout did she truly understand the joy of being rich.
No need to check prices.
Just swipe a black card.
While she was having the time of her life, the atmosphere at the Si household was very different.
At the breakfast table, Si Youlin’s gaze kept drifting. Anyone could tell something was weighing on his mind.
The butler, thinking he was looking for Jiang Ran, sighed inwardly and spoke gently.
“Young Master, Madam didn’t come back last night. You can take your time eating.”
“She didn’t come back?”
A flash of panic crossed Si Youlin’s heart. He instinctively looked up at Si Zuochen.
Sensing his gaze, Si Zuochen shook his head slightly.
Knowing Jiang Ran hadn’t returned overnight, Si Youlin ate his breakfast distractedly.
After finally forcing it down, the two went to their room to get their schoolbags. Si Youlin seized the chance to ask quietly,
“Brother… nothing serious will happen, right?”
Compared to Si Youlin’s worry, Si Zuochen looked unusually cold.
He picked up the schoolbag and handed it over.
“What are you panicking for?”
“Remember this—from now on, you know nothing about this matter. Understand?”
He patted Si Youlin’s shoulder and spoke softly.
“Don’t throw yourself into chaos.”
