Even after Su Hao agreed, Father Tang still sounded uneasy.
“Haohuo, please take a look at his condition for me and let me know. He always tells us only the good news and never the bad. We didn’t even find out until two days later. I’m really troubling you.”
Su Hao could clearly hear the worry in his voice.
“Alright. I’ll call you later,” she replied.
“Thank you,” Father Tang said solemnly.
After hanging up, Su Hao scooped a spoonful of ice cream and said,
“You heard that?”
Zhou Yang leaned back against his chair, his expression dark.
“You really have to go?”
“I should go take a look.”
“No,” Zhou Yang said flatly.
Su Hao looked at him.
She scooped up another spoonful and brought it to his lips.
He pushed her wrist away with his fingers. She paused and was about to eat it herself—
But he suddenly changed his mind.
He grabbed her wrist, leaned in, and took a bite.
His tone was cold and firm.
“I said, you’re not going.”
“I have to go,” Su Hao said quietly. “Uncle Tang helped me a lot back then.”
Tang Rui’s parents had always treated her well.
So had his younger sister.
They were all good people.
Zhou Yang’s face darkened.
He took the spoon from her hand, scooped up a bite, and fed it to her instead.
Su Hao didn’t refuse and opened her mouth.
He narrowed his eyes.
“It’s so sweet. Aren’t you sick of it?”
Su Hao’s eyes curved slightly.
A faint shimmer of warmth rippled through them.
Zhou Yang stared for a moment—and lost focus.
After paying the bill, they went downstairs.
The valet drove the car over and stopped at the entrance of the building.
This was a mostly commercial complex. The lobby was dim, and the front desk had already closed.
The black Bentley’s interior lights came on automatically as the door opened.
Su Hao got in.
But Zhou Yang suddenly bent down and followed her inside.
He caught her hand just as she was pulling the seat belt.
Then he lowered his head and kissed her.
Holding her there, he reached over and pressed a button beside the seat.
The seat slid backward.
Su Hao ended up half-lying down, shrinking against his shoulder.
While kissing her, he fastened her seat belt.
His movements were rough, almost impatient.
Then his lips shifted—from her cheek, to her neck, to the edge of her collar.
Su Hao pushed him nervously.
He bit her lightly at the base of her neck.
Hard.
She sucked in a sharp breath from the pain and hit him lightly.
Zhou Yang finally pulled back a little.
In the faint light, his long fingers brushed aside her collar.
He looked at the fresh mark and smiled faintly.
Then he leaned down and kissed her forehead.
Only then did he press the button again, and the seat slowly returned to its original position.
Su Hao’s face was burning red.
She rubbed her cheeks and watched his tall figure move around the front of the car and into the driver’s seat.
She glanced at her phone.
Father Tang had already sent her the address.
“You can drop me off at home first,” she said.
Zhou Yang put a cigarette between his lips and glanced at her.
“I’ll take you to the hospital. I want to see my love rival too.”
The words “love rival” made Su Hao’s eyebrow twitch.
She turned to look at him.
Zhou Yang rested his temple on one hand, cigarette between his fingers, unlit.
Su Hao paused.
“Sure.”
She gave him the name of the hospital.
If he wanted to go, then let him.
After all, the one getting annoyed wouldn’t be her.
Tang Rui was hospitalized in the inpatient building of Central Hospital.
Father Tang had sent a voice message saying it was mainly due to exhaustion and stress.
It wasn’t too late yet. Visiting hours were still open.
They took the elevator to the eighth floor.
Tang Rui was in a private VIP room.
Standing outside the door, Su Hao looked in.
Tang Rui, dressed in black pajamas, was lying in bed with an IV drip in his hand—
and still typing on his laptop.
Zhou Yang snorted quietly.
“Probably pretending.”
Su Hao turned back and shot him a look.
Zhou Yang immediately shut up.
Su Hao pushed the door open softly.
Tang Rui looked up.
He looked exhausted, dark circles under his eyes.
When he saw Su Hao, he froze.
“Haohuo… why are you here?”
She smiled.
“I came to see how you’re doing.”
She walked in.
“I’m fine,” Tang Rui said, a little flustered. He put down the laptop and tried to get up, holding the IV stand—
Then he noticed a tall man entering behind her.
When he clearly saw Zhou Yang’s face, Tang Rui’s gaze turned cold.
Zhou Yang rubbed the corner of his lips, placed the fruit basket on the table, and asked casually,
“Feeling okay?”
Tang Rui replied coldly,
“President Zhou is very thoughtful.”
The sabotage of Wen Group’s subsidiary had been done by Zhou Yang.
Tang Rui knew it perfectly well.
Zhou Yang smiled, crossed his arms, and leaned against the wall.
“You’re welcome. Making my girlfriend come visit you this late at night—pretty shameless, don’t you think?”
Su Hao shot him a sharp look.
Zhou Yang pressed his lips together and shut up again.
Tang Rui had already seen their relationship announcement in Zhou Yang’s social media.
There was a flicker of dimness in his eyes, but it disappeared quickly.
He looked at Su Hao.
Su Hao picked up a paper cup, poured him some water, and handed it to him.
“What did the doctor say? It shouldn’t be anything serious, right?”
Tang Rui took the cup.
“It’s fine. Just overwork.”
Su Hao nodded.
“That’s good. Uncle Tang is very worried about you. Don’t hide things from him in the future.”
Tang Rui finished the water and placed the cup back on the table.
He was about to speak—
When his gaze suddenly froze.
It landed on Su Hao’s neck.
A red kiss mark stood out clearly against her pale skin.
It was impossible to miss.
He looked up at Zhou Yang.
Zhou Yang raised his eyebrow faintly, arms still crossed.
Tang Rui’s hand tightened on the edge of the table, the veins on the back of his hand visible.
Su Hao noticed and said quickly,
“Lift your hand. Hurry—your blood is backing up.”
Tang Rui looked at her.
There was a quiet, restrained despair in his eyes.
He slowly raised his hand.
Su Hao finally relaxed.
“Since you’re alright, I’ll head back.”
“Okay,” Tang Rui replied softly.
“Will you call Uncle Tang, or should I?”
“I’ll call him.”
“Alright.”
Zhou Yang walked over, wrapped an arm around Su Hao’s waist, and turned toward the door.
Tang Rui stood where he was, staring at their backs for a long time.
After the door closed, the tense atmosphere finally eased.
Su Hao glanced at Zhou Yang.
She could clearly feel the aggressive hostility between him and Tang Rui.
Inside the elevator, Zhou Yang pulled her tightly into his arms and hugged her face-to-face.
She struggled slightly.
He wouldn’t let go.
“Don’t move.”
“I already let you come see him. That’s being merciful enough. The way he looked at you—if I could, I’d gouge his eyes out.”
Su Hao twisted his waist hard.
“Can you be a little more civilized?”
Just like the way he treated Xiao Qi before.
He tilted his head and lowered his voice.
“Do you think I can?”
Su Hao: “……”
They soon reached the first floor.
The hospital smelled strongly of disinfectant.
The eighth floor had been quiet and lonely.
But the first floor was full of greenery and ordinary wards.
From somewhere in the distance, cries of pain could be heard.
In the stillness of the night, it sounded pitiful—and a little frightening.
Zhou Yang spoke softly beside her.
“My mom’s birthday is coming up. What gift did you prepare?”
Su Hao came back to her senses.
“I’m not telling you.”
“Oh?” He didn’t seem to care much.
He kept his arm around her as they walked out of the hospital.
Only then did Su Hao realize he had deliberately changed the subject to distract her from the hospital atmosphere.
She glanced at him.
Zhou Yang had already opened the car door and put her inside.
The moment she got in, her phone rang.
She thought it was Father Tang.
But it was Tang Rui.
She hesitated for a moment, then answered.
“Hello?”
“Su Hao.”
Tang Rui’s usually clear voice sounded hoarse.
“I really regret it. Su Hao… can I keep waiting for you?”
His voice caught slightly.
Su Hao froze.
The next second, the phone was snatched from her hand.
Zhou Yang spoke coldly into it.
“So what if you can cry?”
