Chapter 18 Second Aunt Arrives

Well, she’d gotten used to being hungry over the past six months anyway.

Jin Zijing put her down and turned to leave.

“Uncle Jin!” Gu Youyou called out suddenly, “Where are you going?”

Seeing him carrying a spear and bow and arrows, was he going hunting?

Jin Zijing paused, wondering about the address “Uncle Jin.” He turned to look at Gu Youyou.
“Hehe!” Gu Youyou chuckled dryly. She knew without looking that her laugh was terrifying. However, Jin Zijing didn’t seem frightened. He looked at her calmly and said, “We don’t have much food left at home, I’m going hunting! Be careful at home alone, take a nap this afternoon!”

“Okay!” Gu Youyou replied.
Lotus Village is surrounded by mountains on three sides, shaped like a chair with armrests. The mountains on the left and right sides are not high or large, and the mountains are all cultivated fields planted with common crops.

The mountains behind were high and vast, stretching for thousands of miles. Rich in game, Lotus Village had many hunters.
Facing the village, a clear river flowed gently. Some fields on either side weren’t planted with rice, but with lotus roots. Because they were planted on the front, the lotus flowers appeared as vast fields from a distance, hence the name Lotus Village.

Gu Youyou had taken a nap when she heard someone approaching Jin Zijin’s thatched cottage.
Not long after, she heard a knock at the door.

“Knock, knock, knock…” After a few knocks, no one answered. The person outside asked, “Is anyone home?”

It was Gu Youyou’s second aunt, Huang Xiangwen. Gu Youyou knew it was her and didn’t respond. Jin Zijin wasn’t home, so she simply closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep.
“No one answered, so I came in?” The words had barely left her lips when she heard the door open.

Gu Youyou opened her eyes, wanting to curse. Had she knocked to see if Jin Zijin was home? Then, knowing she was home alone, she simply pushed the door open and entered.
Gu Youyou, her eyes still half-closed, watched as the plump and round-bottomed Huang Xiangwen entered the room and went straight to her dowry chests. Her eyes gleamed, and she instantly understood what Huang Xiangwen wanted.
A leopard can’t change its spots; even after the things had been moved to the Jin family’s thatched hut, she was still thinking about them.

“Second Aunt, what are you doing?” Gu Youyou asked coldly.

Gu Youyou’s sudden voice startled Huang Xiangwen.

She turned her slightly plump, sallow face and glared at Gu Youyou, saying, “You little devil, if you weren’t asleep, why didn’t you answer when I knocked? Trying to scare me to death!”
Gu Youyou was as thin as a ghost, her hair dry and yellow, her eyes sunken, making her large eyes stand out even more. At this moment, she sat on the bed, staring coldly at Huang Xiangwen.
It was fortunate that Huang Xiangwen saw her all the time; if it were anyone else, being stared at like that would have scared them to death.

Seeing Gu Youyou remain silent and just stare at her, Huang Xiangwen was caught in a dilemma, her hand reaching for the large red box neither extended nor retracted, which infuriated her.

“You little devil, if you keep staring at me, I’ll gouge your eyes out!”
Gu Youyou wanted to get up and grab a stick to chase this annoying village woman away, but unfortunately, she didn’t have the strength. She wanted to argue with her, but she had already used up a lot of energy sitting up suddenly, and after a few words, she would probably be completely exhausted, which would only further provoke Huang Xiangwen.
