In City C, there are two world-renowned universities, known as the “Southern Sovereign and Northern Noble.”
The Southern Sovereign refers to Nostro Aristocratic College located in the southern part of the city. Established over thirty years ago, it is a university that emphasizes both academic ethos and family background. The Northern Noble is Sheng Yi College in the northern part of the city, a century-old institution with a long history, rigorous academic traditions, and outstanding achievements.
Among the schools in City C, it is widely known that Nostro Aristocratic College in the southern part boasts three prominent figures: Su Mu, the emperor-like student council president; An Yan, the reclusive clairvoyant who avoids sunlight and crowds, rumored to know everything; and Qiao Yumo, who always follows his own path and disregards everyone else.
Everyone knows that Su Mu dotes on An Yan the most, and An Yan only feels close to Su Mu.
For years, the Southern Sovereign and Northern Noble have maintained a love-hate relationship. While Sheng Yi College appears to be the prestigious century-old institution, Nostro Aristocratic College seems like a playground for a bunch of spoiled heirs. However, ever since Su Mu enrolled at Nostro, Sheng Yi College has been consistently overshadowed.
It’s not that Sheng Yi College lacks talent; it’s just that, when it comes to matters of school honor, only the student council president seems to care. The few others capable of competing with Su Mu, An Yan, and their peers adopt a “whatever happens, happens” attitude.
This situation seemed poised for a change with the arrival of this year’s freshmen.
In City C’s academic circles over the past two years, the most talked-about school has undoubtedly been Jiangnan Academy.
Originally an ordinary school, it suddenly rose to prominence after producing four exceptionally famous students: Hua Wudie, the undisputed top social butterfly and campus belle of all schools in City C; Tong Shan, a gold-digger who employs every means to make money, with a love for money that borders on the extreme; Qiao Xin’er, a calm and composed girl who remains unfazed even when her boyfriend flirts with others, as if the sky were falling; and Su Jiang, the sharp-tongued, brutally honest news club president with a venomous pen, numerous enemies, and an immensely wealthy family.
When these four graduated from high school, everyone watched with bated breath. The competition between the two top universities to recruit them began, and somewhat unexpectedly, all four chose Sheng Yi College.
As a result, onlookers eagerly grabbed their snacks and settled in, anticipating even more excitement in the rivalry between the Southern Sovereign and Northern Noble this year.
It was a quiet Monday afternoon, a week after the semester had started.
At 2 p.m., the usually tranquil road outside Sheng Yi College suddenly became chaotic.
The abrupt, sharp screech of tires drew everyone’s attention. Looking down the campus road, chaos had erupted. Near the school gate, students walking to class were forced to dodge frantically as a seemingly reckless red sports car sped through. To make matters worse, it wasn’t just one car there were two identical red sports cars…
Both cars appeared to be driving erratically, but it was clear that the one in front was being aggressively pursued by the one behind, as if the latter intended to crash into it, leaving the front car no choice but to swerve and evade.
Bystanders could do nothing to stop the chaos and could only scatter to avoid the cars. The next moment, a historic scene unfolded at Sheng Yi College:
The front car, forced to evade, swerved sharply to the side, while the car behind it, in full view of everyone, slammed straight into the college’s antique wrought-iron gate!
The students, who had been chased until they were panting heavily, all seemed to hold their breath at the same moment, staring wide-eyed at the car with its crumpled hood, feeling utterly helpless.
If a car accident happened right at the school gate just one week into the semester, one could only imagine how unlucky that would be.
