Jinian learned to drive at fifteen, taught personally by her brother. Yet during her very first solo drive, she got into a car accident that left the front hood severely deformed. Her parents and brother witnessed the crash firsthand, and in that moment, the entire family felt too paralyzed to even step forward. Later, they saw her open the car door and step out completely unscathed.
From then on, Jinian was forbidden from driving. Nevertheless, she continued to sneak drives. During her second attempt, she crashed again, deforming the car entirely. She lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital. When her family arrived, they found her with a gauze patch on her forehead but otherwise acting as if nothing had happened. After that incident, she was constantly accompanied by someone until she repeatedly promised not to touch a car again. She remained well-behaved for a long period, and only then did the matter finally settle.
Yet, inexplicably, Jinian felt an undeniable attraction to driving. This time, she ran back alone and, without a second thought, drove herself to school. Two crashes, two times unharmed.
But no one knew that crashing had become a habit for her, and it now seemed normal that despite the cars being destroyed each time, she emerged completely fine.
Su Mu followed Nan Shao out, though he wasn’t entirely sure why. Standing to the side, he glanced at her car and the completely shattered lamppost, then instinctively looked back at the girl ahead. She was perfectly intact not a scratch, not even a stain on her clothes hardly looking like someone who’d just been in an accident, though her golden hair was somewhat disheveled.
Brushing off Nan Shao, Jinian looked up and noticed Su Mu. She was reminded of the handsome blond guy she’d encountered at the gate that afternoon and couldn’t help whistling inwardly. Did this school specialize in producing good-looking guys?
After her moment of admiration, she averted her gaze and started heading inside.
As she passed Su Mu, he spoke up, “The School Beauty contest just ended, little junior. You’re too late.”
She flicked her golden hair, a faint smile on her lips, yet he seemed to sense an inherent arrogance in her.
“Doesn’t matter. I just want to keep a low profile. Besides, senior, you’re choosing a university School Beauty I’m just a high school student.”
Low profile? Su Mu raised an eyebrow. With that striking golden hair, red dress, and that face, he couldn’t see anything low-key about her.
But a high school student with golden hair and a red dress? Su Mu studied Jinian, a thought dawning on him.
“Classmate, what’s your name?” Nan Shao interjected.
Jinian vaguely understood the question was directed at her, but she had no intention of answering. Pretending not to hear, she continued inside, noticeably quickening her pace.
Su Mu watched her actions, finding it hard not to be amused.
Nan Shao frowned and signaled with a look. A boy beside him stepped forward, blocking Jinian’s path.
“What do you want?”
“You smashed the lamppost and think you can just run off?” Nan Shao clearly wasn’t letting her go that easily.
She paused, unwilling to waste time on this. Turning back to Nan Shao, she asked, “How much?”
“Don’t know. Go ask at the specialty store yourself and have them deliver a replacement.”
“We’ll talk tomorrow.” She had come here to check out the freshman welcome party, not to wreck his crystal pillar and then run errands for him.
“No, it must be handled before the ball ends.”
“So what if I don’t go!” Jinian was annoyed with him, pursing her lips.
Nan Shao hadn’t actually decided what to do with her, but Su Mu whether intentionally helping Nan Shao or testing something smiled faintly: “Qiao…”
The moment Jinian heard that surname, she abruptly turned to face Su Mu: “You!”
Her reaction immediately confirmed Su Mu’s suspicion.
So, this was the girl Qiao Yumo had mentioned.
Didn’t Qiao Yumo say her name was Jinian?
Jinian. Su Mu carefully savored the name on his tongue. Qiao Yumo’s… person?
He fell into thoughtful silence.
